Lansing Common FC 2023
With more than 10 thousand edited photos to choose from, these are some of my favorite photos from Lansing Common FC’s 2023 season. It was an impressive season for the team and only barely missing out on the post-season playoffs, this team has a lot to look forward to in the years to come. With an entertaining and attacking style of play, improved attendance this summer, and more local partners, this team has the tools to compete for a playoff spot in the Midwest Premier League next summer. Working with this team over the past 2 and a half months has allowed me to practice in different environmental conditions and test new action photography techniques. As the Fall approaches, I hope to work on American Football projects but it is always refreshing to connect with the sport I grew up playing.
A Little Too Fast
This season Lansing Common has been impressive going forward. A healthy amount of through balls and long crosses allowed them to leverage their speed against slower opponents.
Quick At The Back
With defenders who can match the speed of their forwards, Lansing Common is dangerous when pressing for possession. Halfbacks that are skilled enough to carry the ball forward ensures that forwards and other attackers are always in dangerous positions.
Putting On A Show
This season saw greatly improved attendance at every game. Seemingly feeding off of the energy, crowd chants and songs became a staple.
Rough Hands
With a very capable back line, Lansing Common’s goalkeeping corps had a couple “easy” games but had to stay sharp at all times. With an attacking style of play, the enemy counterattack can be dangerous but the goalkeepers for Lansing Common weren’t ever scared to get their hands dirty.
The Mighty Midfielders
Fast dribblers, strong hold up players, and great passers were all on display this season at Eastern Stadium (home of the Lansing Common Robbins). Being able to mix these skills to control the midfield was key to a lot of the Robins’ success this season.
It’s A Team Game
Even when scoring from free kicks and solo goals, celebrations were always a team event. This chemistry was vital for developing teamwork and confidence in each other.
Dedication
Even in the hot evenings and rainy nights, the effort was never lacking from the team.

The fans are at the core of Lansing Common and it is clear during every game that the fans are part of the team.
